Everwell Health Acquires Celadrin Brand and Ingredients for Joint, Skin, and Pet Care
Everwell Health has acquired all ingredient assets from Things of That Nature, expanding its portfolio to include plant-based cetylated fatty acid technology, esterified fatty acid compounds, and the Celadrin brand, known for its benefits in joint comfort, increased mobility, and skin care for both humans and pets.
Cetylated fatty acid creams are used topically to reduce pain and improve joint function, while esterified fatty acid compounds are known for their ability to soften and smooth skin. Everwell Health recognizes the growing consumer demand for mobility and beauty benefits in the supplement and wellness markets.
Jordan Miller, VP of Marketing at Everwell Health, comments: “Over the last two years, we’ve seen significant growth in products targeting these health concerns. Joint health supplements have grown nearly 11% CAGR from 2022-2024, and skin and beauty product launches have seen a 13% CAGR.”
Consumers, Everwell Health says, are seeking solutions for healthy aging earlier in life to maintain physical abilities, promote healthy function, and preserve a youthful appearance.
“Fifty-four percent of North American consumers express interest in products that support mobility, even when they aren’t experiencing symptoms, while 50% are interested in skin care products that reduce visible signs of aging,” Miller adds. “This demonstrates the massive potential for innovative solutions aimed at improving mobility, joint comfort, and skin health.”
The acquisition also includes all assets and rights associated with the Celadrin brand. This well-known brand, which is sold globally in over a dozen countries, is formulated for human, pet, and cosmetic applications. Celadrin has been backed by about a dozen clinical studies and promotes joint health, flexibility, and comfort by modulating the body’s natural inflammatory response and supporting cell membrane function. It also helps with skin aging when applied topically.
According to Innova Market Insights, 33% of consumers globally prioritize anti-aging features in their skincare, contributing to a 5% global market growth in anti-aging product launches from 2019 to 2023.
Steve Rosenman, CEO of Everwell Health, emphasizes the current market opportunity: “We plan to support our customers with scientific investments and extensive marketing capabilities as we expand the Celadrin ingredient.”
This acquisition not only expands Everwell Health’s branded ingredients portfolio but also adds to its innovation pipeline. Everwell’s subsidiary, Nutrition21, has also acquired these ingredients. Nutrition21 specializes in developing and marketing science-backed functional ingredients.
“The technologies we’ve acquired align with our mission to provide unique ingredients that help people and pets look, feel, and perform their best,” says Rosenman. “Our team is committed to creating meaningful wellness solutions for the supplement, food and beverage, and companion animal markets.”
Pet care products are increasingly popular as pet owners treat their animals more like family, prioritizing quality nutrition and preventive care. Nutrition Insight recently spoke with ADM about this growing trend, and last week, Fera Pets launched Dental Support, a powdered formula for pets’ oral health that promotes fresh breath and clean teeth without traditional brushing. Similarly, WagWell introduced a microbiome-friendly dog paw balm that supports healthy skin and protects from environmental stressors.
The trend has also sparked discussions on the use of fragrances for pets, as evidenced by Dolce & Gabbana’s launch of a dog perfume. Some experts have raised concerns, with PETA warning against applying scented sprays on animals.
