Ipsy has teamed up with Gabrielle Union to curate the February Icon Box, a special collection of makeup, skin, and hair products that reflect Union’s personal journey of self-expression. This collaboration comes as part of Ipsy’s celebrations for Black History Month, where Union will also serve as the narrator for the brand’s social campaign, “Black Joy Is Beautiful.”

The February Icon Box will showcase an array of products selected by Union herself, from brands like LYS Beauty, Kosas, Elemis, and Benefit Cosmetics, along with Union’s own Flawless by Gabrielle Union line. This unique box will also include Union’s beauty tips on how she uses cosmetics to express her most confident and authentic self.
In addition to the Icon Box, Ipsy will spotlight a short film titled Black Joy Is Beautiful, which celebrates the art of embracing one’s true self. The film will be released at the beginning of February as part of the brand’s Black History Month campaign, which aims to inspire others to express their own beauty. Through the campaign, Union’s narration will bring the message of self-love and empowerment to life.

The campaign will also highlight the importance of celebrating black joy and beauty with stories, products, and content across Ipsy’s platforms. In line with this, Ipsy’s February Limited Edition Mystery Bags will feature designs created by students from Project Level, a Bay Area non-profit program that nurtures creative expression in underserved youth. These bags are an ode to the cultural significance of hair and will be an important part of Ipsy’s Black History Month offerings.
Kristy Westrup, Chief Merchandising Officer at Ipsy, expressed, “During the month of February, IPSY will also provide our members with exclusive access to Black-owned brands, including Fenty Beauty, Briogeo, Danessa Myricks, Pat McGrath Labs, and Buttah Skin, via our online IPSY Shop.”
This collaboration between Ipsy and Gabrielle Union brings an exciting opportunity to honor Black History Month while celebrating beauty in all its forms. With the Icon Box, social campaign, and limited-edition products, Ipsy continues to push the boundaries of inclusivity and empowerment within the beauty industry.
