Skin care ingredient company Young Pharmaceuticals has joined forces with LAC2βiome to create microbial-based, physician-dispensed products, marking a significant expansion in their product offerings.

LAC2βiome, renowned for its expertise in microbial-based ingredients, specializes in both topical skin care and dietary supplements, all of which are backed by clinical validation and rigorous scientific research. The company’s approach emphasizes the power of microbes to support skin health, aligning well with Young Pharmaceuticals’ focus on scientifically driven products.

“We are pleased to partner with Young as we share a similar focus on science-driven product development and excitement for microbial-based skin care solutions,” says LAC2βiome CEO and co-founder, Lasse Nagell.

Young Pharmaceuticals will market its new range, InfiniteSkin Microbiome, under the BiomeAge brand. The first product in this line features a patent-pending formula combining hyaluronic acid with lactobacilli, a strain of bacteria known for its ability to help maintain a healthy skin microbiome. This combination is known to hydrate and soothe the skin, making it ideal for anti-aging formulations.

“Young Pharmaceuticals Teams Up with Microbial Ingredient Firm for Medical Skin Care Solutions. The technology delivering live beneficial bacteria to the skin complements Young’s existing line of medically formulated products,” explains John Kulesza, president of Young Pharmaceuticals.

These BiomeAge products will be available exclusively through medical offices, offering personalized care under the guidance of dermatologists and other healthcare professionals.

Director of Global Business Development and co-founder Luc Monbourquette emphasizes the importance of education in this emerging space, noting, “Education is key in building this space of true probiotic skin care, and we see no better way to educate than with Young and their network of over 2,000 dermatologists and plastic surgeons.”

In the wider context of biotechnology’s growing role in personal care, Young Pharmaceuticals’ move into the microbial skin care space mirrors trends in the industry. For instance, Seppic, a beauty ingredient company, is launching a fermentation biotechnology lab in Delaware, focused on creating more sustainable bio-based ingredients. Additionally, Dp Derm, distributor of Dp Dermaceuticals, has introduced the Exo-Grow Collection, a hair rejuvenation line that merges peptides, ceramides, botanical extracts, and exosome technology to address hair health at its root.
