Silverson Machines will showcase the process of creating a basic cosmetic cream emulsion using their multipurpose laboratory mixers at the upcoming SCS Formulate trade show in Coventry, UK.
Silverson to Host Masterclass on Mixers at SCS Formulate. The demonstrations are scheduled for 11:30 AM on both days of the event, November 12 and 13, at stand 327.
According to a company representative, “If you’re making a cosmetic cream or lotion, mixing is the critical stage in forming a stable emulsion and obtaining the right consistency, skin feel, and functionality in the end product.” The key to achieving a stable emulsion lies in obtaining a fine, uniform droplet size. “The more shear energy introduced into the mix, the smaller the droplets will become, resulting in a stable, homogeneous emulsion,” she added.
Silverson High Shear Mixers are particularly suited for this purpose, capable of producing emulsions with droplet sizes ranging from 2 to 5 microns, and even finer emulsions down to 0.5 microns, depending on the formulation.

Recently, Silverson launched a series of new mixer variants designed to meet the growing demand for small-scale in-line mixers that bridge the gap between their laboratory-scale and production-scale mixers. These new models include the 150 UHS small-scale in-line mixer, the 088/150 UHS small-scale multistage in-line mixer, the UHS-HV small-scale in-line mixer, and the FMX10 small-scale powder/liquid mixer.
